James City County’s CONECT Program Wins Outstanding Service to Seniors Award
WILLIAMSBURG, VA – Williamsburg Landing is proud to announce that Jamesha Edwards and Lisa Walker of the James City County CONECT program have been selected to receive the 2024 Outstanding Service to Seniors Award. This award is chosen during Older Americans Month (May) and is presented in partnership with the Williamsburg Community Foundation. In 2016, the Williamsburg Landing Fund was established with the Community Foundation to honor those who have exhibited outstanding senior services in the greater Williamsburg area. Winners are selected annually and presented with a $1,000 award.
Jamesha (Social Work Case Manager) and Lisa (Medical Case Manager) were nominated for their extraordinary work and dedication to helping individuals in need of supportive devices, through CONECT, (Community Outreach Network Educate Care Thrive), a mobile integrated health initiative that works with adults 60 years and older or disabled individuals, 18-59 years old. They work diligently to create tailored service plans for each individual and provide resources for them and their caregivers.
Their dedication and passion for serving others has allowed CONECT to flourish without funding, thanks to strong relationships with local non-profits and community stakeholders. Since January 2023, Jamesha and Lisa have completed 454 home visits, assisted with 75 applications for benefit programs, obtained over 150 durable medical equipment to give to individuals, attended 35 medical appointments to advocate on an individual’s behalf, provided and installed 92 smoke detectors, and worked with 15 Congestive Heart Failure patients.
“We are proud to sponsor the annual Outstanding Service to Seniors Award. It is our way of supporting the efforts of others who share our passion for seniors! Lisa Walker and Jamesha Edwards’ leadership is behind the success of the CONECT program. Their achievements are truly exemplary.” states Greg Storer, President and CEO of Williamsburg Landing.
